This class is intended for students who want to acquire the skills needed for accurately communicating in English the challenges and lessons learned from Fukushima following the Great East Japan Earthquake and Nuclear Accident.This year's class will analyze facts about Fukushima that are often misunderstood both domestically and internationally, with a specific focus on the treated water issue. It will also observe and analyze actual examples of reputational damage in the past, and help students acquire the knowledge and skills for better understanding what factors are behind such information disasters, and how to communicate scientific facts with high reliability.
この授業は、世界に向けて震災後の福島の課題と教訓を正しく英語で発信する力を身につけたい学生を対象としています。今年度の授業では、処理水問題を中心に国内外にて誤解されがちな福島に関するファクトや、過去の風評被害の実例を学び、信頼性の高い情報伝達を行うための知識とスキルを身につけます。

Based on the Japanese university credit system, a minimum of 60 hours of out-of-class study time is required.

Expected activities include (1) Collecting literature and materials related to the post-disaster reconstruction and to understand the contents in advance.(2) Preparing and reviewing English and Japanese phrases related to post-disaster reconstruction using audio and vocabulary provided through Google Classroom.(3) Deepening your understanding of overseas news coverage of Fukushima through English-language newspapers, television, and the Internet.

Course content is subject to change. Class dates will be discussed during the first week of class. Course content and pace will be modifying accordingly to the English levels of the students

本授業は全てハイブリッド式で行われます。今年度は、ICL加盟校５大学の学生が参加をします。

講義は全て英語で行われます。語学要件はありませんが、CEFR B1レベル （英検２級程度）の英語力が推奨されます。
